“One of the most beautiful theaters in this country”
Lecture, discussion, and exhibit on the history of The Waldo Theatre
Presented by Barbara Boardman and Michael Amico
At the 1939 New York World's Fair, The Waldo was “conceded to be one of the most beautiful theatres in this country.” Come hear why, and how it was that local residents built and maintained this state-of-the-art immersive hall. We’ll talk about the look and feel of Waldoboro at the time, as well as the role art and performance has played in the changing experience of community in Waldoboro’s history.
The gallery in the theatre will display Waldo Theatre-related material from private collections and the Waldoborough Historical Society. This is a free to the public event.
